1970 1st edition part#3970667 owners manual original or repro.?

HELLO NCRS MEMBERS, I AM A NEW MEMBER AND HOPE TO SHARE INFO. FOR EARLY PRODUCTION 1970 C-3'S IN THE FUTURE. I RECIENTLY PURCHASED AN OWNERS MANUAL IN HOPES TO REPLACE MY WORN COVER ORIGINAL. I CLOSELY COMPARED THE TWO AND NOTICES DIFFERENCES, THE BOTTOM MARGIN ON ALL BOTTOM PAGES IS LESS THAN THE ORIGINAL, THE FRONT COVER DOES NOT CUT OFF LOWEST BOE TIES LIKE ORIGINAL AND PINK PAGES ARE VERY DARK IN COLOR. THE MARGIN (white) X FLAGGS ON COVER ARE ALMOST LOST. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT TO HELP IDENTIFY REPROS. OR WERE THERE PRINTING VARIATIONS. I KNOW THIS IS NOT A GREAT POINT LOSS BUT I AM TRYING TO DO THE BEST POSSIBLE ON EVERYTHING ON THIS SPECIAL VETTE. #00009

Information about the editions of the 1970 Corvette owner's manual is in the archives about three years ago, that is a guess. The manual I got with my 1970 Corvette I bought new on 8/16/1970, built in July 1970 has part #3970667 printed on the first page after the tear off for the Corvette Owner Card.
However it also has the last number marked and a 6 hand written above the 7. This is the way it came.

i Am Looking At 2 Manuals, 1 Original, The Other Possibly Repro. Both Part # 3970667. The Last Page A Helm Order Page Only, No Corvette News Or Card Near Front Page Just Helm Order Page. I See No Evidence That Any Tear Out Card Was Ever There, Any Thoughts? #00009

I used to think that the 667 manual was a Helm re-issue but once Jim Trekell and I discovered that both our 667 owners manuals with the last 7 crossed out and a 6 written in we knew it was not a re-issue. Jim's car and mine were made on the same day and both have the handwritten 6 with the 7 crossed out. That means they ran out of 666 manuals and used 667 manuals for that day or possibly longer but for some reason someone at St. Louis decided to change the part number.

            Steven,
As a follow up to your question Helm made have made 667 manuals after 1970 and they may not have had the Corevette News stub and mail in card. Those were most likely sold over the counter aa a service replacement.

I have an original 666 manual with the Corvette News card intact and an original 667 that I assume was from a re-order from the Helm Corp form as it appears to have never had the Corvette News card. I also had a 667 once that had the 7 crossed out and a 6 penciled in. Can't find that one.

I also have the original to my car and it is a 666 number. Has the Corvette News tear out card in front and the Helm order card in back. As mentioned the bottom bow ties are cut off on the cover as well. First page has 1st Edition January 1970. Car was built Feb 1970.

My 1970 #2161 (A29) came with the 666 owners manual. No handwriting on the manual in the part # area. On the part of the Corvette News tear-off card that extends into the back of the book -- the partial page right after the Helm page -- the key numbers are handwritten there. Not my hand either. I just noticed those when I went to look at the part number. Neat whet one will find.
