Both St. Louis and A. O. Smith bodies had the job lot numbers written on the rear body bulk head in back (just in front of the gas tank) and the lower passenger side engine compartment firewall in front. The job lot numbers may have appeared in other places on other cars as well.
From the bodies I've seen, St. Louis used different colored grease pencils--usually white.
My question is, what did A. O. Smith use for writing these job numbers? The rear bulk head on the body I'm working on appears to be a wide font black marker of some sort. I can't quite tell. I want to restore the lot number on the front lower firewall (opposite the passenger's feet) to correspond to the rear job lot number.
Thanks.
Tony
