64 Frame Question
I am trying to restore an 64 frame, and i am trying to find out what is allowed as far as ball joint, and tie rod ends. I no that it needs to have correct bushing. also do the ball joints have to be rivet in or can they be bolted in.

Re: 64 Frame Question
When you have a car judged by NCRS the idea is the car is as it left the factory when new. Anything different would recieve a deduct.
most of the replacement ball joints are not the same as the originals and will recieve a deduct even if they are rivited in. By the way there are some vendors (Bairs) that will rivit ball joints into the frame for you. I think a company called Americas Finest Corvetts claims to have an accurately made ball joint.- Top

Re: 64 Frame Question
in Front Ball joints, the uppers almost NEVER wear out as the weight of the car is supported on the lowers. Save them if you can and you won't have to worry about replacement and rivets. Lowers, look for a replacement that has the last 3/4 inch (approximately) of the stud unthreaded as that is the point the car was supported for front end alignment at St Louis.Bill Clupper #618- Top
