When We Were Young With Our Corvettes - Chapter #1

at Fort Campbell, OCS and Ranger Training at Fort Benning and out with an early to go back to school. I was a part timer at Sears, Roebuck and had a friend who worked at Allstate in the store. He had lived in Long Beach, California and he talked about it constantly. I decided I wanted to go there.
With two friends of mine, I headed west in my 1954 Ford with an unbeatable 1957 turnpike cruiser engine. Route 66 all the way except those few portions that had gone Interstate by then. We found an apartment, I found a job in Santa Ana with Allstate, and my friends took flight back home to Virginia.

Neat story! Sometimes I just wish I could have lived in that era.....50s and 60s.

Is this the car Ron Netteshiem worked on recently?

Great story. My `62 must have been built around the same time as yours. #1438.

The story gets even more interesting--what Bill didn't tell you is that he let that car go in the mid-1960's, and just found it and bought it back a couple of years ago.

                Bill,
Great writing. Bring that photo to a CVS photo lab or the like. They can take a digital copy of it and have it restored to as new. We had my parents wedding pic done and we never had to leave the original.
Keep them cards and letters, errr stories coming!
