Last week I purchased NON-dated bar type clutch fan manufactured by schwitzer for my 63. The unit is in very good shape, but it seems like it may need oil. I am looking to see if anyone has any information on how to rebuild on of these units and what may be involved rebuilding one. Attached is a couple of pictures of my fan clutch. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re: How to rebuild Schwitzer bar type clutch fan
I remember a filling procedure referenced in a Restorer article a few years ago.
The following thread should put you on the right track:
the Restorer article might be in Spring 2005 issue.- Top

Re: How to rebuild Schwitzer bar type clutch fan
Jeffrey, I see you bought the one from ebay I suggested. Hope you got a good deal on it. Fred Olivia in Florida is one fellow who restores these units. His wait time is about a year or so. If you figure out how to do it yourself let me know.

Craig:
Yes I did, and the guy ended up dealing on the unit and he was a really good person to deal with. The unit is really good shape. I have been looking for this type of one and one that is good shape for some time. Thank you the help I really appreciate it. I am know trying to find carter carb or a base plate dated closer to by engine build date. Thats my next mission.
Over the past two years my 63 has been judge at the chapter level, and my carb has not really has been hammered on points, but I have some fear when I bring this car to the next level.
Under mechanical my carb received 11 points deduction on originality out of 40 and no points taken off for condition At the 2008 Chapter Meet my Carb received on 5 point deduction on originality out of 40 and no point taken off on condition
My carb number on the bottom flange reads as follow 3720SA K4 ( The K4 is on the bottom of the 3720SA). According to the judging manual this carb is for a 327 300hp automatic trans (Which my is) but is the carb for a 64. The correct carbs code for a 63 327 300hp with automatic is 3460S dated January/Feb/march or April. My engine cast is D63.

Re: How to rebuild Schwitzer bar type clutch fan
Jeffrey, your carb is definetly for a 64. Normally judging on the chapter level is a bit lenient compared to the regional or national level. Keep searching ebay or the corvette forum. Lots of parts on sale there all the time. Good luck.
