    Your C1 PG burping

    While I'm on PG's/ darn/ I must be bored !! But people also ask why the PG throws up now and then (burp) Well 95% of the time the filter seal is leaking AIR by being (hard- torn or lose) it's simple to inspect, just by removing the filler side cover to check it out

    One reader that was addressing leaks mentioned that his fill pipe was not sealed properly. How should it be sealed to the trans?

      Hello Roy;
      Believe the "burping" out the filler neck happens when the weight of the heavy torgue converter pushes down on the front pump seal, allowing air into the converter and fluid from above the seal level to over fill the trans. and push over the filler tube.
      The weight of the converters actually distorts the flex plate.
      If the front pump bushing has any wear the problem is magnified.

      Just my 2 cents.

      And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
      I hope you dance

        The filter has a flang that's held in by two srews , the seal is press in as you screw the flang down on.

          It could be some of the problem but is usually the filter seal

            I was thinking of the filler tube rather than the filter tube. Is there any seal or sealant for the filler/dipstick tube or is it just a press fit?

              The filler tube has a O ring then you just push it in to the side cover. that's it (press fit)

                Roy, I need a little clarification about your last reply. I have a 1960 with PG and my PG dipstick has the typical tin cap below the finger hole. Underneath the cap is some type of gasket (fiber?). Where would the o-ring be located on a 1960 PG fill pipe?

                  The side cover where the filler tube is installed there is a rubber (O) ring , then you push and wiggle the filler tube in and install the bolt to hold it. If the (O) ring gets hard it can courses a oil leek or if you some times install the tube you can cut it and oil will leek .
                  I dint mean the tube had a (O) ring. sorry
