I have taken the interior out of my 1969 and would like to get opinions on who makes the highest quality reproduction interiors for our cars. I was originally only going to replace my forward console, but am considering also replacing the door panels and carpeting. Thanks, Greg

Re: Who makes the highest quality interior's?
Only recommendation I have are for seat covers. Bought red leather seat covers for my 68 convertible about 25 years ago from Al Knoch. The seat covers are still in very good condition. The 68 has not been a daily driver for about the same amount of time so seat cover wear from daily use has been a lot less. Seat cushion replacement is recommended if you still have the originals.Last edited by Jim T.; November 28, 2008, 03:02 PM.- Top

Re: Who makes the highest quality interior's?
I've bought several interiors from Corvette America and Wilcox.I couldn't be happier. Search the Corvette Forum for lots of info. comparing products. You'll find some have had problems with all manufacturers including AK. One thing for sure, you won't find a higher price than AK but most have equal to, or better quality.- Top

As a general rule I believe you will find that Al's interior components are the highest scoring. None are 100% correct, but usually his are the closest. I have worked on, and judged cars with most of the other manufacturers products and his are the most consistentDick Whittington- Top

Greg
Al Knoch did my 63 and did a outstanding job. My car has been judged twice and did very well regarding the seats.- Top

Re: Who makes the highest quality interior's?
Greg, I just want to add that if your door panels aren't too bad and you have some time and patience, why don't you give restoring them a try. The problem is that few of the repro door panels will fit as well as the originals (not that they fit that well on C-3s). I experimented with one of those $10 vinyl repair kits and was surprised at how well the small tears were fixed on my door panels. I re-dyed the door carpeting and put on new arm rests and they looked pretty darn good and fit very well. There were a couple cracks that I was able to patch from the back and my wallet and I were a lot better off than with some panels...just a thought.- Top

Re: Who makes the highest quality interiors?
While I agree with my better (?) half regarding Knoch's quality. There is one exception to the degree of correctness with the carpet.
Formerly, no repro carpet was manufactured with the correct cut and binding on the rear bulkhead. In the past year, I have judged two cars that did have the correct cut and binding on the rear bulkhead. The owners told me that it came from Corvette America.- Top
