    paint coverage on doors 1967

In reviewing some recent judging sheets, there were deductions for lack of body color in both the door latches and the strikers. Does anyone have a picture of "factory typical" coverage of these two items.

Also a deduction was received for no overspray on hood scoop inside. Again anyone have an example of a typical amount of overspray.

Thirdly, there were deductions for the Al Knoch top and carpet. 1: the top date code stamp was the wrong size and location and 2: the top front welting was too long; 3: the cut and loop was considered incorrect on the carpeting. Does anyone make more factory typical tops and carpeting then Knock?

    Thanks
    Tim

Ok, I can help a little, the door latching mechanisms were installed during paint, and a cover was placed over the exposed parts. The paint should show around the edges next to the body/door as the fit of the covers was not tight. As to the convertible top, one thing y9ou didn't mention is that the front windlace from Knoch is typically not even made of the correct material, as the originals were of a "leatherette grain" material, not the pinpoint weave that the top itself is made of. Same applies for the edging around the rear and sides of the top. As to the hood bulge, I can only guess that the reference is to the hood striping application. I'm sure others can be of more help there.

As a result of the rear edge of the "Hood Bulge" Stinger being painted, there was resulting overspray on the rear edge of the inner re-inforcement.
Regarding the carpet, you might contact AAC in Birmingham, AL for a sample.

Bill. Actually, as of late, Al Knock has supplied the correct type grain on the front bead, BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, the stuff is old and rotten. I dont know where it came from, but it is definitely old stuff. Naturally the bead is also the wrong size and sewn wrong. When I tried to correct it, the stuff just came apart. Go figure, you go that far to make a reproduction part, and after 35+ years, you still cant do it right. I will never understand.
