    Tar Top Battery

A recent NCRS Flight judging on my '56 Corvette had points deducted because the car did not have a "Tar Top" battery. Can anyone direct me to a source of a correct Delco model 2SMR53 tar top battery?

    Thanks,

    Don Curtes

      Re: Tar Top Battery

Don, The Summer 2008 issue of the Corvette Restorer has an article on how to Tar Top a DRY CELL battery. DO NOT try this with a lead acid battery. The gases from the electrolite will explode.
      Best of luck.

I picked up some tar at Renco Battery in Belize then heated it in a big frying pan and poured it on a new unfilled repo battery.
