    Early 1969 Forward Console Question

Hi, I am needing to replace the forward console in an early 1969, built September 1968. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding the best place to purchase one from.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know all the repops have a flaw in I believe the "volume" wording. They look okay until you notice that then you can tell that it is a repop.

Is there any way to save yours? From what I've seen over the past few years, 95% of the time "reproduction" means "service replacement" at best...at worst the part won't even fit!

      Hi,
Are we talking about the shifter console or the the center gauge bezel? I would think 2 different answers.

        Hi Alan,

I have seen it listed as the "forward console", it is the plastic part that houses the shifter and the shifter plate and center cluster affix to.

        Regards,

        Greg

I purchased a repro and it is different than the original whether Al Knock or others. Fit was also a problem so I found an NOS piece. Very expensive but well worth it for my 70. I think the only difference between 69 and 70 is stitching.

Does yours have any stitching? If no stitching than you can get it redone by maybe even Al knock. If stitching than keep looking for a perfect original from a low mileage car or find an NOS piece.

Also look in to the folks out west who will restore all dash related pieces to perfection as long as there is no stitching. I mean it will be perfect. If I remember the name I will post it here of you can google dash restoration. Maybe it is called Just Dashes. Their work is excellent.

I put an interior package in for my '70. I don't remember who manufactured it, but it was not Al Knock. I was very disappointed with the fit, etc. I have been collecting original interior parts for my '70 LT-1 car to avoid repo interior parts as much as possible.
