53-55 shifter trivia

Had some one ask about the shifter for sale on e-bay and how to tell if it's a repro, he wonted the real thing.
This is how ,repro don't have the part number or logo's that the real original has.Also missing the indicator ring a separate piece. (bottom left corner JMP)

What keeps the grease in this thing? There's a grease fitting but it doesn't seem to have a seal of any sort.

Right it's to lube the shaft and din't need a seal
