    Schwinn Corvette bikes

I'm surprised that so few people don't know that Schwinn made Corvette bikes starting in 1955 till the 60's.
Each are dated and numbered and many had the same color as the vett. It would be kind of neat to display one next to your Corvette. Made as boy and girl's .What do you think guys??
Shown is a 55-59-57-61-62 and later were called Sting Ray

PS bottom right is my 55 bike Copper!

Roy, I think all I need is a Corvette chain guard for the old Schwinn in my attic and I will have an undocumented one. Remember looking at these bikes in the 50's and wishing I could have one.

My daughter has the one that my wife got as a kid, but it isn't blue so it probably wouldn't go too well with either Corvette.

Terry, find a Schwinn trim tag with a blue code and paint that bike! No worries.
        Cheers,

A friend in my local Corvette club restored one and displays it at cars shows with his car.

Always wanted one really bad. When my birthday came I asked for one but my parents could not afford it so our next door neighbor, who was the undercoater at our local Chevy dealer, sold my folks the bike he had as a kid in the 30's for $5. Skeet, our neighbor, included painting it Roman Red with Ermine White fender scallops and wheels. With new handlebars and a red and white plaid seat it was great. With a little special bearing and chain lube and pedalling like heck I beat the kid down the street on his black Schwinn Corvette. Later I modified it---no fenders, turned the handle bars down, and went like double heck on US 6!

The Stingrays is what i remember. These were some cool bikes for there day. Late 60's and everything was performance and styling.

I had a Lemon Peeler as a kid. Bright Yellow, Glitter Banana seat, front and rear spring shocks, stick shift 5 speed, and a slick on the back and small tire up front.

People take these bikes seriously in the collector market. Check out this auction for a rare Stingray.

You see you did like Corvettes before you got a Corvette , I just find it fun to have a bike that's the same years as my Corvette, I have all the accessories GM offered for my Corvette just to be different , now a Corvette bike. life is good

When I had my 57 Fuelie I found a matching 57 Schwinn Corvette in origional condition. I had to sell the 57 (1st time as a new dad panic syndrome NDPS) to a local collector that had no interest in the bike. The bike is in the attic and I would love to see it go to someone that would enjoy the romance of a Corvette Bicycle to display along side a 57 Red Vette. Thanx Ted
