Does anyone have a picture of a front and rear fenderwell to see where the undercoat covers? The NCRS manual is a little hard for me to decipher. Is the the power antenna mounting plate or aluminum rivets present during undercoat? Thanks in advance.

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
This shows the front wheel well on an in factory body. You will notice it was done even before blackout. Coverage varied from none to a lot, depending on timing, body plant, and just who was on the line.

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
Greg,
While you are waiting for a pic, the undercoat was irratically sprayed in a sweep, to keep rocks from causing top surface chips and cracks.
Antenna plate and the #3 body mount access plate were installed after undercoat.
Which rivets are you referring to?

It also appears the radiator support was installed before paint etc. Was the radiator also installed????- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
No, the radiator wasn't installed prior to painting. The core support WAS installed to provide structural rigidity to the nose of the car as it traveled on its 'mule' through the paint booth...- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
Original cars usually have paint overspray on the underneath side of the core support and on the three nose supports that are attached to the bottom of the front core support.Region VII Director (serving members in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas).

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
Most of that stuff that was riveted to the inner fender (brackets and the like) were done prior to the assembly of the body panels, so yes, the rivet heads would be covered with blackout. Attached picture should show what I mean, Rivets for brackets and such all sprayed.Attached FilesBill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
That issue (body paint overspray on the bottom of the rad core support) is more important to '63-65 cars than '66-67. Why?
Well, the core support changed in geometry to accept copper/brass radiators that were taller than the earlier aluminum radiators and the solution was to angle the radiator back more steeply in the nose of the car.
When this was done, the bottom of the core support was effectively (not TOTALLY) 'masked' by the lower front fiberglass... But, the early cars were pretty 'ugly' in terms of body color overspray (blobs, runs, sags, Etc.) on the bottom side of their radiator core supports with paint coverage running in lock-step to the coverage on the adjacent front lower fiberglass panel.- Top

Re: 66 Coupe Fenderwell Undercoat
ALL of the peened soft aluminum body rivets were installed in the Body Shop, prior to paint.- Top
