1977 and up GM build information

When I visited the GM Heritage Museum a couple years ago they indicated that the only available Corvette build information was from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant. They said that all of the St. Louis build information was missing and that it was most likely destroyed. That would place the first reliable build information as June 1, 1981 when Bowling Green came on stream building Corvettes.

GM Media Archive http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/ indicates that they have vehicle invoices for almost all GM cars & trucks stating in the mid 1970s (Chevrolet from 1977). They state on their websight: "Documentation of the vehicle cost broken out by model & factory options. It contains the original ship to dealer information, MSRP and invoice number that GM used to bill the dealer."

I would think that the vehicle invoice should have generated the build sheet or vice versa.

Yep, they are able to supply a great historical documentation - the Dealer Invoice - showing all options a 77 or newer came equipped with.
A great source to have the window sticker reproduced from, also...

True, but if you own a unit produced in Bowling Green remember that you can get a reproduction window sticker and build sheet from the NCM.

        Sure... For the BG-built ones!

What I actually meant, was that from the Dealer invoice you can see (verify) your car's options. To have a Window Sticker produced you need to approach other sources anyhow...

I saw this thread and ordered the dealer invoice for my 1978 Silver Anniversary. Stacy at GM Archive was very easy to work with and provide a .pdf file of the original dealer invoice that confirmed the original dealer and zone numbers and original equipment. A nice piece of documentation to have...$50.
