There's a '67 on eBay (item 140283340195) that's bid to $62,100, and there's almost 2 days left. It seems like a nicely restored numbers-matching car, but it is a SB 4-speed with only power brakes and steering, white with black interior--no bolt-ons, leather, side exhaust, headrests, speedminder, A/C, etc. I'm not degrading the car; it's just that people have been talking about the bad economy leading to $30K C2's.

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
Most of the people cuttin the price down don't own a C2. Its commin on winter. Come Spring and after the AZ. auctions may tell a different story than my opinion. I remember my Dad tellin' me (regarding both Cars and Houses.) " You don't think what you have is that great. Till you start lookin around."- Top

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
Down from what? Is there a C1 or C2 owner out there that has owned their car for more than three years that does NOT think that the value of their car has DOUBLED during that time? Please call, I'm willing to confirm your fears.
As an aside, could we please NOT refer to e-bay sales as a "benchmark" for market value?- Top

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
True, e-Bay has no semblence of reality. Like to watch it though. Seems like all types of cars sell. Then magically reappear in 1-10 days. Dead beat bidder claims etc. I like Hemmings to find a more legit market. Both buyers and sellers.- Top

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
Please refer to them as mid years ( no such thing as C ) . I bought a decent 66 convertible 300 hp driver a year ago October for 36.5K and have not seen another at this price. I do not think prices are dropping but remaining stable.

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
Kenneth, at an auction with reserve, it is perfectly legal for the auctioneer to bid up to the minimum. Some auctioneers will do it, some will not and just announce that it did not meet reserve. Sometime that you have plenty of time go to the following link http://www.law.cornell.edu/ucc/2/article2.htm and read the Uniform Commercial Code 2-328 that deals with auctions. If you are not thoroughly confused when you read that, go to http://www.msaa.org/members/html/arc..._section_2.htm. That article is written by one of the foremost attorneys that deal with auction law. At least 47 of the 48 continental states have adopted this code either in it's entirety or with minor modifications. It tells you every thing that you Never wanted to know about auctionsLast edited by Dick W.; November 26, 2008, 04:54 PM.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
When money changes hands, ie a sale is consumated, you can start to build a case for value. Too many people look at asking prices and use them for yardsticks in the market. I agree with throwing out ebay for analysis regarding current market. Just because a car met reserve on ebay doesn`t mean any money ever changed hands. Most quality `67`s or mid-years period, whether small or big block have settled into hands that are not selling them. I also wouldn`t establish market averages on the non quality cars that seem to be circulating now.- Top

Re: Who says C2 prices are down?
Honestly, I don't really give a cr@p if my car is worth 25 percent less now than what it was last year. I love my car and it's not for sale, so the market value assessment is just numbers to me. I'm more interested in other numbers, like the horse power rating of my car and my score from the recent Waco Regionals.
Have a great Thanksgiving all!
