    Original 1965 Seat Belts

When the outboard seat belt sections are fully retracted, and nestled in their holders, are the belt buckles oriented inboard, or outboard in relation to the spooled (wound) lengths of webbing bundled by the retractors?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Joe, no takers?
The "D" ring on the outboard belt resides on the inside of the role when retracted.
Conversely, when fully extended, the roller is positioned on the outer side of the belt, opposite of the occupant.

        Thanks Mike.
Somehow, I'm having trouble interpreting the AIM in this case.
It seems to follow your description, and that provided in the excellent article by Louis Trohatos.........current Restorer issue.
        I wanted to verify.

Right, Joe. Confirmation is a good thing.
The upper right photo in Louis' article "Final..." is the correct orientation for the passenger side.
I think I finally figured out Michael Gill's Cryptogram.....
Since '65's have the Irving Aircraft Style Belts without any metal ends that fit into the buckles, as in mid '66 onward, the "D" ring I was referring to was the wire part of the retractor that fits around the belt.
Interesting previous post ask the question about the orientation (Direction) of this wire ring. I believe Louis is revising. The tag shows the ring toward the anchor end which also allows this wire ring to act as a tab to fit the retacted belt firmly into the cup.
BTW, the tag appeared on the passenger side only.
