    Convertible Top Color

My 1964 has a creme colored convertible top which appears to be original. I want to replace it during restoration and I want to make sure that was the original color. The interior is code "STD" and the body code is for Riverside Red but I'm not sure if that implied a certain color top or not. I'm thinking that the top was just an option that did not show up in the VIN or interior code. I don't have the original order sheet.

I believe tops were available in three colors black, white, and tan and there is nothing in the trim tag that indicates the top color.

Sounds like you either have an old, yellowed white top, or an old, faded beige/tan top.

What's stamped/embossed on the rear window of your current top?

Buyer's selection of soft top color is only documented on the dealer order and build sheet documents. There's no way to determine forensically what color vinyl the car actually shipped with...

          Jeff:

The white top on my 64 is a wonderful cream color. I think Chuck is right that you had a white top. I seem to remember that tan tops are much dark than a cream color.

The top color was a matter of customer choice, and wasn't tied to or restricted by any exterior color.
