Whatever the case, enjoy! You might want to contact the NCRS chapters along the Route and ask those residents what they "should not miss'.
Loren, to be honest I never saw one episode in my life! For me its more to feel and experience you country and doing that by driving routes as the 66 and pacific one is just a great opportunity for a petrolhead.

You must not miss Seligman, Arizona. I was fortunate enough to go there last year on the way to SEMA in Las Vegas with Dana Forrester, the best Corvette artist in the country. BTW, he has taken pictures all along 66. It was the inspiration for the movie "CARS" and the terrain will be very familiar to all visitors who have seen the movie. I"m sure you can Google it and get all kinds of info.

Michael, Be sure to stop at the St. Louis Arch, "The Gateway to the West". Also go you have to stop at Ted Drews Frozen Custard ( a soft ice cream only much better. Drews has always been a great St Louis hangout and been on Route 66 since the 1930's. Weall hung out there in the 60's when our C2s were new. Too bad I didn't have one back then. There are still some fun, scenic, and enjoyable sections of 66 left in Missouri. Enjoy your trip. I look forward to the day when mine is finished to be able to cruise 66.

I agree with Tom's suggestions in Missouri, Ted Drewes is a must. Just be careful on the route through St. Louis itself. There are multiple routings through the city and it's neighbor across the river, East St. Louis. Many of these routes take you through some pretty rough neighborhoods. It may be best to take interstate across the river and make your way to Ted Drewes.

West of Rolla, MO you can drive through some of my favorite sections of the old road, like this one. There are also some cuts through the sandstone of the region that are really neat. I hope you have as beautiful a day as we had!
