1963 to 1967 top shield attachment screw

Can someone post a picture of a ORIGINAL top shield hold down screw for 1967? I have some extra screws left and I would like to see if I have this part. Thanks very much, Tim

    Tim -

It's a 1/4"-20 (7/16" hex) zinc indented hex head screw with an "E" or "EL" headmark.

Some of those E's have a little dot after them. E.
I didn't know you could have an EL though.

Thanks John and John for the information. Is there a split washer or star washer attached to the screw.

          Tim,

Here's a repro and the original from my 67 SB:

Current repro on the left, original on the right (zinc replated)

Here it is prior to the replate:

Funny thing is that I had gotten dinged in 2005 for having a wingnut in it's place and I thought I had lost it. So I bought the repro. Then one day I was cleaning out an old tool box, I used to use in the late 70's and early 80's. Lo and behold I found in the bottom with a bunch of other little things that collect there. Must have been there 25 years or more.

Just think, when you take your ignition shielding off, what do you do with the wingnuts and bolt.

I think a single L is also correct besides the E and the EL

Jerry - As always, nice photos.

My 67 has the RBW logo on the bolt head with a floating wide eared "shakeproof" lock washer. Pete

John - I believe the "dot" on the E logo head bolts indicates the bolt was heat treated. From what I have seen the E with the "dot" is a later bolt available from many of the suppliers and was probably not used in production. Pete

I agree with Pete, this is the screw off my 67, RBW with thick star washer. Please note I found it with parts not installed on the car but I am confident it's the correct screw. Note the wide star washer, looks just like the 121753 star for the ballast screw but I can't remove it from the bolt. The reason I ask this is because the other screws shown look like oil pan bolts.

I would like others opinions as this is the exact screw used to attach the ground at the accellerator lever on my 67 and I am 99% sure that screw has never been removed. The 67 AIM shows a part # for the star and bolt (for the lever ground) that's different than on iginition shield.

My 67 got the same bolt at both locations, it also got the capaciator for 390 HP car on the coil bracket, I can't remember if it's attached or just laying there. Car is early build September 66.
