Black Paint is the rarest ex color in 65 & 66, my 66 is correct Black on black.............nice color but very difficult to keep the dust of ,suggest you get /Black Book , sold on this site........it lists all options for each year & color combos, right now cant find it but suggest you get one cost about 17.95 bucks............

      Eugene,

Production records indicate 1,191 of the 65's were painted Tuxedo Black. 426 were silver vinyl and 427 were silver leather. GM Records for combinations of options do not exist, so you are left to extrapolate from there.

Good catch. My fault. I just glanced at some production numbers online and didn't look close enough at the header of the chart.

All we (or anyone else) knows is that there were 1,191 painted tuxedo black; no records were kept of interior trim colors or of exterior/interior combinations.

              Re: 65 colors

Coincidentally the number for black exterior cars you quote in the model year 1965 of 1,191 is almost identical to that of 1966 black Corvettes as per "Corvette News".

I reference the April/May 72 Corvette News (Vol. 15 No 4) article "BY THE NUMBERS" on page 26 is a percentage comparison between the 1966 model year and 1971 model year colors. Black is listed as the lowest exterior production color for 1966 at 4.3%.

So my whippy dippy little calculator here tells me that 4.3% of a total 1966 production of 27,720 cars is 1,191.96. Which looks an awful lot like there may have been 1,192 Tuxedo Black 1966 Corvettes.

                  Re: 65 colors

There were 8186 Coupes made as 1965 (model year) Corvettes.

If you want to assume the percentage mix of black cars was exactly the same for coupes and converts., then you have an estimate of the number of coupes.

I don't know a reason why the mix would not be same on each body type.
