    C2 Body-Lift Points

    Almost there....

I have the lift straps for my 64 convertible and I have finished the hinge-to-lock turnbuckles for support. What I don't know is where the lift points are. I realize it's from the bottom rail of the birdcage but aprox where should the clips be located in relation to the front and back of the doors and, on a c2, is the center lift point above the windshield, in front or behind it?

If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. Tomorrow's the big day...

I don't know much about C2s but I found this pic on the net a while back and saved it for some reason. It should give you an idea of where the lift points are and it's a 64 too.

Drew: looking at the photo when I first lifted the body off my '65 roadster...the lift point was right above the windshield frame. For straps, I just used rachet tie-downs from Harbor Freight. The forward strap was hooked on the sill rail, just even with the front metal rocker bracket. The rear hook was even with the rear-most rocker metal tab or just below where the door jamb meets the sill.

I also used an engine leveler. Really is the way to go. Allows you to adjust the body tilt without disturbing with the straps.

FWIW, my rig is an A-frame with a chain hoist.

Here is what I used. Worked great. If you have headroom problems to get the body to clear the engine then position the lift point slightly forward to tilt the body and allow frame roll out.

If you have a lift I made some extensions for mine and bolted them on to my lift Worked Great! Made out of flatbar welded together with rubber stripping glued to the contact points. Removed my spin ups and simply bolted them on. Mike
