72 LS5 Vacuum Advance Help

My 72 LS5 did not have the correct distributor so I found a 1112051 and it came with vacuum advance 436 20. First of all, is that the correct vacuum advance control?

Second, none of the emission controls exist on this engine. Will the 1112051 with the 436 20 work properly with a direct vacuum connection to the carburetor?

I am currently running a 1111141 with 355 15 vacuum advance control.

The '436' vacuum control is the correct control for the GM #1112051 distributor. I think it will work ok with a direct connection to the carburetor. However, if you wish to change to full time vacuum advance from the stock ported, you may have to change the vacuum control for best performance.

Thanks Joe. Now here's where my lack of experience with engine performance comes in. Why would I want to run full time vacuum advance?
