    65-396 fan shroud lower seal

Can anyone clarify for me if the fan shroud for a 65 BB
396 indeed has a seal which is attached by staples to
the shroud itself. The AIM clearly shows it but it has been pointed out to me in judging that some cars did not have them from St. Louis. Any photos of unrestored engines showing or not showing the shield would be helpful.
    Thanks

I have it on my car, put it on right after taking it for my first judging and losing points for not having it. The part is availabl from LIC - sorry but I do not know how to take and post pictures. Good luck.

Jamie, I forgot to mention that one of the reasons for many of the 65's not to have them is that in the original position the fan blade showed the ability to chew the seal up. The mechanic that was doing my work at the time somehow got extra room by playing with the shroud. I never had a problem with it once installed. Good Luck.

St. Louis #19722 does not have lower seal and there are no staple holes in shroud.

No 23340 (St. Louis built July 29, 1965) did not have a lower shield on it (no staple holes). No deduct at Waco Regionals last month without it.

                      Jim,
It appears that the assembly manual does show the seal
but the judging manual does not even mention it, hence
                      my question.
