    I'm New Here...Hello Everyone...Help w/ '70

Thanks in advance. A question if I may, I am replacing the fuel tamk on my late '70 350/350....I have found a Wittek clamp on the connection between tank and fuel line(vapor line had a spring clamp)....
While looking for a replacement, I've been given info that this Wittek clamp might be incorrect...
Recently retired, finally found serious time to spend on this '70....I've ordered a Judging Manual....but it won't arrive until Friday. Thanks again, Billy

Welcome Bill -- you have come to the right place.

Wittek made several styles of clamps. If the clamp is the "tower" type -- that is one with a fillister head screw perpendicular to the fuel line that tightens the clamp -- it might be correct. If on the other hand it is the "worm type" -- that is where one turns a worm screw that grips grooves in the clamp -- that is not correct.

When you get the judging manual there will be illustrations that may make this task of identifying these details easier. Of course a picture works too.

Thank you Terry for the warm welcome and the info...I forgot to mention it was a tower clamp(my bad). Clamp appeared to look untouched until I got to it.

      Thanks again sir..

        Hi Bill,
Welcome! and I'm glad you're here.
Please be careful, those small tower clamps are pretty fragile and easy to twist. The odd thing is I would expect to see the tower clamps on the return line, not on the supply line as your seeing on your car.
If you end up trying to find some new ones I'd love to know if you have any success. I've been looking for 4, for my 71, for a good while.
Again, glad you're a new member!
        Regards,
        Alan

          Bill,
I would rate it a high probability the tower clamp is original to your car -- especially if your 1970 is a late production unit.

Thanks for the kind words Alan. I've got a couple of clamps coming from (Dave)Walters Engineering...Have you checked with him? I'm new to this, but learning quickly..Not sure if it's the one I'm looking for or not, believe it may be...I'll keep looking for the both of us if it isn't. Thanks again Alan

              Hi Bill,
Ah... there's the rub! I'm looking for the tower clamps for the smaller return line. I've had the clamps for the larger supply line and 'modified' 2 of them for the return line on my 71.
Here are a couple pictures of the return hose at the tank and 2 of the original clamps.
I'll be interested in hearing how you make out.
              Regards,
              Alan

                Alan...

My mistake, clamp is on the return line at the tank....I'll be back at the car on Saturday morning, let me compare what was sent to me vs. what's actually still on the tank...I've yet to remove it. Clamp I got from DW engineering was labeled for the fuel lines of a 63-67. I'll get back to you on this....

                Thanks,

                Billy
