Dick -- that's what I thought too, but when I won an eBay NOS unit for $21 (my best score ever
; cost me more in shipping), and began to dismantle for comparison with a stock Corvette unit, there's almost NOTHING that can be salvaged, except as replacement for other '263's.
Check the thumbnails at bottom of the 3 auto-loads.
Different: mainshaft, rotating pole (although weight plate is same as 111238, on right). Maybe the advance weights and/or springs can be used elsewhere. The stationary (magnet) is glued to the base plate [lots of luck to remove intact]. Probably the inner coil wiring is the same. The main shaft casting has no provision for vac advance, and is designed for ball bearing insert, and a screw-on stationary pole. The cam drive gear is reverse drive, for reverse-rotating camshafts. The tach drive brass and gear can serve for Corvette production
