I am looking for a heater hose for a 1986 roadster with an oil cooler option. Seems that these are pretty hard to find with only an assembled replacement part being available. Can anyone recommend a vendor who might still have some of these available? Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Heater hose?
Hey Peter,
Try Vintage Parts, Inc. at (800) 367-8388.
It's been a couple of years since I've purchased from them but I just tried the number and it rings. (It's Sun a.m. so I'm sure they're closed today.)
Good luck. Let us know how it turned out.- Top

Re: Heater hose?
Peter,
Ken Brodbeck just suggested Ecklers so I went into their site and, sure enough, they've got the hoses now. (Didn't have them two years ago.)

You've probably discovered that the Chevrolet dealer didn't have them.- Top

The hose in the Eckler's link is for an 88-89 with oil cooler option. 88-89 is different than 86-87. Also, for 86-87, I can't find that any different hose was used for applications with oil cooler versus applications without oil cooler. Does the existing hose have a readable part number on it?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Heater hose?
Thanks guys. Ecklers does have the 86 - 87 heater hose. Here is a photo of the replacement hose. Unfortunately it is not OEM and is a multi-component part. I'm still trying to find the one piece compound OEM part. I can't see a part number, but I'm still researching.Attached Files- Top

Re: Heater hose?
Peter, that photo is OEM for my '90 and other L-98s, 91 and 92, I believe. I know I've got it on my 90 and a guy from here in Memphis who went by "Lightman" on the CF had it on his because I photographed his while I had mine apart in '06. (Needed something to go by.)Thanks guys. Ecklers does have the 86 - 87 heater hose. Here is a photo of the replacement hose. Unfortunately it is not OEM and is a multi-component part. It's been two years and a new house since I researched all this stuff.
Reason I brought it up now is that I really want to make the caravan to BG in September and the thought of making that trip with a single oil cooler hose that's 19 years old is a bit edgy. As I mentioned in my thread on the subject, one of the new oil cooler hoses was a 1/2" too short.
(Don't know how I could bypass it, assuming I'd want to in the first place.)
Hmm....wish I could be more help.- Top

Re: Heater hose?
Peter-----
As I've previously mentioned, I can't find any indication that there was any heater hose unique to KC-4-equipped Corvettes for 1986-87. However, there was such a hose unique to 1985 Corvettes with KC-4. That hose was GM #14091278 which remains available from GM. So, is this the one your 1986 uses? I don't know.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
