I am have trouble with my seat staying "locked" in any position using the ajustment knob under the seat. It will continue to side forward or backward and not "lock" in place. If I hold the knob and arm at a certain angle/position it will "lock" but when I let go, the seat sides again in the forward or rearward direction. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks Gary

Re: seat won't stay in place
I have had a similar problem with my 63, only it just won't stay locked going backward in the last position which is where I've always had it. However, it won't come forward, rather if it don't lock it remains loose between the last notch and a full rear position. I have used a 2"x4" behind the seat for years to keep it in the last notch. I tell people that's just an emergency wheel chock I store back there.

Re: seat won't stay in place
Well, that's what I get for keeping the seat in only one position. I should have known that over time with all those "G" forces and my chubby posterior, something has to give. Got to get me one of those NASCAR racing seats I guess.

Re: seat won't stay in place
Bill:
Thanks for the idea of the spring but it checked out fine, it appears that the attachment pin for the seat adjustment arm to the seat rail has too much play. The play allows for the arm to flex too much and not retain the position in the rail that you select. I am going to working to secure the pin more tightly and I believe that will solve the problem. Stu & Stew, keep your 2"X4" but I appreciate your vast technical knowledge.New England Chapter NCRS- Top

Re: seat won't stay in place
The metal wire that goes between the two adjusting arms under the seat has to be longated so it will force the the latch down into the slot.- Top
