This ad had a brief run. It was pulled due to "child advocates" objections that it encouraged inappropriate behavior in children. Their main thrust was the child driving.

We all have dreams (I think) and encouraging youngsters to dream -- the title was A Child's Dream -- is a good thing. That is one of the things that motivates them. What a shame that a few were able to burst the bubble of many.

I think this ad received some awards. The producer was married to Madonna at the time the ad was made. If I was more up on those people I could tell you who he is, but I would have to ask my daughter those kinds of questions.

It is hard to beat "Jumping Jack Flash" by the Stones to get the beat going.

I love that commercial---just as I love the '65 and '67 Corvettes in the commercials that were on Bonanza, and Route 66 and------I dreamed about them then and I dream about them now. I close my eyes and listen to my engines and remember all of my exploits. I remember our neighbor's son, who was about 6 coming to our house each time I had the '57 out. I used to talk with him and let him help me. I took him home and watched his smiles and wondered what he was dreaming. He now has his Dad's cars and is a real car guy. I wonder if he remembers me kicking in the second 4BBL taking him home??? You have no smiles if you have no dreams.

The high school where I taught used Corvettes at homecoming to bring the court onto the field at halftime. One year a driver cancelled at the last minute and Dick said he would take the L88 to fill in. When we unloaded it from the trailer before the game, several students came hurrying down from the stands and asked if this really was an L88. This was sometime about 1988; the car was older than the teens and just becoming collectible. Students always recognized Corvettes, but I was amazed that they knew an L88. However, they had done their homework with magazine articles and recognized the hood instantly.

You've all hit on a point that I have found very satisfying for many years now, and still do. That's why I love to go to cruise-ins at our local Old town in Kissimmee, Florida. On a usual Saturday night there are literally hundreds of good kids that come out with their parents. Most too are respectful as well as knowledgeable about hot cars in general, and Corvettes in particular. About the only question I have to answer is "what year is it?" Then you hear cooooooool!, and often a Thank you. Many of them speak very little English, but they still know their cars.
