    65 dipstick for shp

    Hi,

I have researched the archives and can not find an answer. Is the 65 shp dipstick embossed? I have found pictures in the archives of 63 and 64, but not 65. I own a pretty original 65 L76 conv, and have been looking for the correct dipstick for a while. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bill

Bill --- did your search include this thread of last May ? (link below)

I was one of the posters with shots of my '65 L76 dipstick, which I think is original (at least no one said otherwise ).

Thanks for the reply Wayne. I did have those pictures you posted. I was told by other sources only 63, 64 had the embossed/debossed characters. There is one for sale currently that is not embossed, I wanted to make sure before I spend the money.

Love your avitar by the way. I had twin 65 nassua blue's, but sold the coupe to buy BB coupe. Still looking.

      Thanks again.

Be careful and make sure it is the real deal. Originals have markings stamped into the blade. LICS currently has a good repro except the markings are engraved instead of stamped. Repro parts are sold as originals all the time.

Thanks Terry for the reply. I currently have a LICS repro. I was only dinged a little at 2007 National where a got a top flight. I have been looking for an original but wanted to make sure about the embossing/debossing. These SHP dipsticks are very rare, as I'm finding out. I appreciate the help from NCRS forum.

          Thanks

I have two (Not ForSale). They both measure 21" from the tip to bottom edge of the chromed "cap"; NOT to the bottom that the seal goes over,
Overall length 24 1/4" (top of the handle.
One handle is "plugged" at the end by BLACK piece of plastic; the other is WHITE.
            Both are stamped with (from the tip);

              Hi Loren,
Thanks for the reply. Are both your dipsticks embossed? Are characters seen from both sides, with one side appears backwards?

              Thanks,

NOT embossed, but stamped - nothing visible on the reverse. I would also note that an Oct '67 parts book also lists this gauge for 1966 L79s.
