    Ebay Assembly Manual

There is an assembly manual listed on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220299153997
for a '68, and also one for '69. It is reported to come out of GM Canada Hq. It looks as though one of the photos (UPC L88 - A1, H359) for the ebay ad is the exact copy as the Corvette America version. I mean down to the little dust specks on the reprint. If this were the GM company manual out of Canada and in their Hq. for all these years, does it not seem suspicous as to why it has the same flaws as the version on the street? The reason for the scrutiny is that $499.00 is a bit much for a publication that can be purchased for around $40.00. Not? I may, as others, be tempted if it were legit.
    Thanks for you thoughts

    Re: Ebay Assembly Manual

The BIN price is pretty spendy, but it looks like a period manual; I used them constantly when I was at Chevrolet in the 60's, and those dividers/tabs are the ones that were issued with the initial editions of the manuals.

It may or may not be the same as the reprints you can buy today - the reprints are "snapshots" from some point in time during the production year (which varied depending on the supplier), and that original manual may or may not have been kept up to date regularly as the changes arrived.

Dale, the manual in question is in fact one that was distributed within GM. As John pointed out, the dividers were the ones that were available within GM. The BINDER that this manual is in is NOT the "normal" binder that was issued for the GM AIM's.

Also it is not known if this particular GM AIM was kept up to date with revision changes.

Yes, some of the pages could in fact have the same little dust specks as the the REPRO'S from CA. These were internal documents and were never intended for public viewing and therefore when GM created them they did a lot of cut and paste, and I mean cut with scissors and paste with paste, from one year to the next..........i.e. carry over illustrations, etc.

        John and Art,
Don't tell my wife, but I went ahead and bought that GM 68 AIM (too many $$$'s) as I talked to GM Canada Archives. The person I talked to told me that there was an AIM there and he even knew where it was stored and that it was no longer there. He looked at the add on line and said it looked like the GM copy, but could not be 100% sure. He then tried to contact the seller to see how he may have obtained it. No response. Anyway, he kind of said (with a litigius inference) to enjoy it and that it was better off with one of us than in a trashcan somewhere.
        Thanks for you help
        Dale
