    68 BB production numbers

I have a 68 427/400 tripower conv silver on silver car. How can I find out how many of those cars were made in that combo that year.
    Thanks Joe

You can't... Factory records simply recorded how many of each discrete option were made/shipped. Compound probability records (how many with this, that, and without this other) don't exist.

Some use the individual statistics to 'infer' how many were built, but that approach ASSUMES uniform production/distribution of each option which isn't really a valid approach...

I like to think we have one of one, with so many options in those days on cars the odds of any two being exactly alike are slim to none. Just my opinion

I've said the same thing previously on numerous occasions. Given the number of available options, exterior colors, interior colors, body styles, etc., I figure there was a MINIMUM of 70,000,000 possible combinations. So, I think that pretty much ensures that just about every car was unique with respect to the COMBINATION of options. However, it may well be that certain combinations were popular and that would skew the probability towards more than just one with a certain combination. However, I still think that it's unlikely there were more than a few cars made with the exact same combination of options, colors, etc.

The above may represent the EXACT REASON that GM kept no records on the COMBINATION of options. The list for any one model year would have had just about as many lines as there were cars built.

Every car should have been unique...

You shouldn't find another out there with your car's VIN tag on it!

            Joe -

That was DeLorean's #1 issue when he took over as Chevrolet General Manager in mid-1969; he was stunned at the complexity of the Camaro, with its staggering number of independent free-standing options (on top of the "packages" like SS, RS, Z/28, etc.) and the resulting number of unique parts that had to be designed, released, sourced, and stocked. He put a couple of guys to work on it, and they calculated that they could build an entire year's production (350,000 cars) and never build the same car twice due to all the buildable permutations.

And John, John DeLorean didn't do much to reduce the number of independent freestanding options. I recall a study done in the mid 80's that showed 700,000,000 available possible combinations for the "B" car alone.

There was 1932 L68 427/400 horse Corvettes built.
I have counted every one. No only joking.
I had a look on Rob's Registry The C3 registry go into facts on C3's and there is good info in there about how many colour, tire, engine, and jock sizes they made. It's a great site to just loaf about in and take in lots of facts with all C1, C2 and C3's.
