Greetings, everyone. I hope I'm in the correct place now. Can anyone provide instructions on replacing the fuel filler neck hose on a '62 without removing the tank? I read everything I could find in the archives on this and also reread John Hinckley's article on the C1 gas smell in the fall '07 Restorer. I can't get a tool on the outboard hose clamp. Can I remove it through the filler cavity by loosening the clamp on the tank? Thank you.

Re: '62 Fuel Filler Neck Hose Replacement
I believe you can remove the filler neck and hose from the fuel fill compartment. Try it. You've got nothing to lose. If not, loosening the clamp at the tank will allow you to rotate the hose and neck so maybe you can get a tool on the other clamp.- Top

Thomas--
Been there a number of times. It's a real bear because the hose is hard as a rock, stuck tight to both of the metal necks, and it's very hard to reach the one clamp. I've never been able to pull the neck through the body opening with the hose and clamp attached, but have been able to work it out a ways, push it in so that I can work it past the tank, and then redo the hose and clamps with the neck out of the car. Not easy, and frustrating, but something that is doable.- Top
