    1111141 Distributor in 72 LS5

My 72 LS5 has a 66 427/390 distributor with a 5M2x date code where x is possible another number that is covered by black paint so I can't read it.

I am planning to replace it with the correct 1112051 and plan to sell the 66 distributor to someone who needs it for their Corvette.

I have asked this question of the Corvette Forum with mixed results but what is a reasonable price for it? One response stated it was a TI distributor but I looke dit up on the CorvetteMagazine.com distributor identification article but there was no mention if a TI distributor at all.

Just a points-type distrib., used as you've said on '66 L36's and early '67 L36's. Does it have the original "355 - 15" vac advance ? That may be worth something. The rest depends on condition of tach shaft gear and driven cable gear, as well as other factors (cosmetics, bearing play). Does it have the partially filled oil annulus around the cam driven gear ? That would add $ as well.

    Just a SWAG, but maybe $ 150-200.

Yes, it has the original 355 15 vacuum advance. It is also in excellent working order as my LS5 performs very strongly with no problems.

RE: the oil annulus, I will have to check that when I replace it with the correct distributor.

The oil annulus goes part way around the distributor.

        What does that mean?

That configuration was used for some big block distributors, especially the 65-66 versions. It can be used on any big block, though, without problem. In fact, you've demonstrated that since you've apparently been running it on your 72 for awhile.

the one on the left has the partially-filled annulus, common to '65-66 big blocks. This one happens to be of a 1111263 ball-bearing racing distrib [notice the reverse rotation gear teeth], even though this continued to be sold (maybe even assembled) throughout the '70s and '80s.
