    GM Running Out of Cash

GM may not have enough cash to sustain operations in 2009. This does not bode well for our favorite car.

At Yahoo Finance, you get free stock quotes, up-to-date news, portfolio management resources, international market data, social interaction and mortgage rates that help you manage your financial life.

Fox today said GM has enough cash to last until the end of this year. Looking for mega billions from Uncle Sam to bail them out. It's depressing.

Re: GM Running Out of Cash

I'd like to think they are merely staking out a PR position to influence Congress and the American Public. The new President has already indicated a willingness to promote some help if GM uses the resource to develop a "Peoples" car (my words) - and that ain't no Vette.

Gentlemen; It may also be time to consider the possibility that our old Vettes may be legislated off the road to a scrap heap or museum. I know we don't want to get political on our TDB, but the organization may want to get involved with the likes of SEMA and all others in the hobby to speak in a voice of numbers in order to protect our interests. Also would be wise to go out and stock up on your hunting supplies before they too get legislated away from us or taxed beyond our means. Just some thoughts.

John; Is the 63 "X" nozzle the standard for all 63 Fuelies? (wanted to stick that in there to keep things more tecnical in case the self appointed TDB Police are watching).

Its depressing. But the ol' saying "As GM goes, so goes the Nation". Lotta theater happening now. But after Obama Press speach (concern for the auto industry) The Gov of Mi. in on the eco-meeting was no accident. The bridge-25 Billion will get done. But What Gm does in the next 6mos is parimount to its survival. Libor rates at 1.65 doesn't hurt either. There may be hope.

I AGREE I hope the government care about the manufacturing industry like they care about banks, wall street & insurance Co. Manufacturing creates wealth all of the above suck it up with no value added

....quite incorrect. If 50 years ago this country had the same policy that China does that "If it's not made in this country, it does not get sold in this country" way of business, we wouldn't be in this crisis we're in and unemployment would be almost non-existent.

The GOV of Michigan has overseen the loss of about 750,000 people from her state thru layoff and relocation. She then raised the taxes more and things got worse. Now she is an economic advisor for Obama.....

It's like every other big ticket purchase that people have been scared to make since the end of summer. The press said things will get worse, and by God, they did. People are scared to buy anything, especially cars in this media storm. It started with real estate almost 3 years ago and has become the only thing of any substance the media can grab onto to win the election. It's almost as bad as the left wing liberal press' annilihation of Sarah Palin when they realized "Oh my God", she may help McCain win the election. Hopefully, the media scare tactics can now subside with their favorites in office and things can go on as usual as we have previously experienced after the last 4 recessions.

the pols got their palms greased to allow the imports to be built factories here and even gave them tax breaks to build factories in their states. this may not have happened if the american manufactures had not moved their plants out of the country because the pols raised THEIR taxes. just a vicious circle

About the "People's Car"; The people elected their promoter too, and they bought many of the "People's Cars" because that's all there was to buy. Then after the war, those that were left alive, said about their leader; "But we didn't know! about him because we didn't bother to check him out or want to believe what we were told!"

John D.; I still want to know if the "X" nozzle was the only one available in the 63's. A left coast friend of mine once told me the reason my L-76 would/did blow away the fuelies was that the standard L-84's were calibrated too lean at the factory, noting that the only exception was those in the Z06's. Of course I take what I hear from the Left Coast like a grain of sugar in my gas tank.

She's more of a lobbyist than advisor. With Reid, Pelosi plus 57 members in the senate etc. Her push is to secure that 25-50 Billion before Jan 20th.
