69 Hood release cable under dash source

Does anyone make a correct repop of the 69 hood release cable that mounts under the dash?

The wire broke on mine at the latch end years ago so I got a GM one and it was a cable instead of a solid wire. I would like to go back to the solid wire type if possible. I still have the original one so if there is some way to repair it I'd be open to that option as well.

    Thanks

I think you'll find Paragon makes/sells all three variations of the hood release assy...

Early cars used a Bowden cable without plastic sheath and stranded wire inner cable. Then, the cable was sheathed with plastic. Finally, the inner cable went to single strand vs. stranded material.

Keep in mind that the "monofilament" cable is subject to work hardening and breakage. The stranded cable is NOT subject to the above and will last longer than you need it to. You don't think that GM changed the design because the original style worked just as well, do you?

Personally, I would NEVER AGAIN use the "monofilament" style cable. NEVER. EVER.

I know of no way to repair a broken cable or otherwise replace the cable on an existing handle.

        Thanks guys.

Does anyone besides paragon sell the correct release cable? I haven't bought a thing from them since they totaly dropped the ball on shipping an order a couple years ago which cost me dearly and then the boss, David accused me of "taking advantage of a situation". Long story........

Joe I agree that the cable type is superior to the single wire type but I was thinking that for all that I'm going to open the hood that the single wire should be fine. If it was a everyday car I wouldn't even consider the single wire type...then again I wouldn't have used lacquer either.
