    best 69 carpet source

Who makes the most correct carpet for a 69? I understand that Al Knock is one but I also heard that Mid America? makes most of the interior parts for many of the vendors so would they be a good choice as well?

To the best of my knowledge, Romeo Engineering is the only company making the carpet with the IMCO logo, although the logo is not 100% correct.

Many have had problems with getting orders from Romeo in a timely manner.

I have Romeo's black carpet in my 69. Bought it years ago, and had no back order problems.

I also used Romeo carpet in my72 LT-1 and got two Top Flights. I did talk to Al Knock and he said he could buy a heal pad from Romeo and then do up a carpet set for me.
The Romeo carpet was great so I did not need to have Al do the extra work. In my 73 LS4 I used Al's as the heal pad does not have the same logo. It is a better carpet.
      Hope that helps.

I ordered new carpeting for my 1964 from Romeo Engineering last winter. After 4 months of waiting and numerous phone calls to Romeo, I cancelled my order and went with Al Knoch.

As I understand it, the IMCO logo on Romeo's carpet deviates somewhat from the original, and therefore takes the same deduction as not having one.

            Dick

How does his deviate from the original? The fact that on the original you would need a magnify glass to see it and his so large that you can see it with out any optical device?

Most of the time it can be seen standing beside the car. I have had to get down close and search long and hard for the originals when judging.

She's better'n than I am. I have had to hunt for five minutes to see it on originals, but like her, I can see it on Romeo's carpet while standing beside the car.

Thanks guys and Reba. I think with all things considered that I'll go with the Al Knock carpet.

It took me almost twenty years of ownership of my 1970 before I saw the original heel pad logo -- and at that Reba had to point it out to me. In fairness there were some other features the judges pointed out to me that I haden't noticed either.
