    Thanks
I just recently got my cluster and clock back from a Bill 'Rehab' and I couldn't be happier. His attention to detail and quality if second to none.....He not only refurbished, but re-dampened where required so you don't end up with a fuel needle that bounces etc....He also re-calibrated all that required it.
Keep in mind I have some dust or what looks to be dust but it is NOT part of his workmanship. They are pristine

      David,
Obviously, you are going the extra mile to do the job correctly. The subject of the main harness was metioned in one of the replies. I would HIGHLY suggest the replacement of the main and the others while you have the car apart. It is my feeling, when these wire harness's were manufactured 30-40+ years ago, a 40 year life span was not engineered into them. In the big picture, it is some of the cheapest insurance you can buy for your car. Ask anyone who has had an electrical fire much less one under the dash. If you were to search "electrical" in the previous posts, I'm sure you would get overwhelmed. Most of those are individuals chasing an electrical problem which often is due to Again, for time and effort to pull the cluster, the wiring will dot the I's and cross the T's.

p.s. I do not work for or sell any wire harness products

        David -

Sort of like after leaning over to tie your shoes, you look around to see if there is anything else to do while you are leaned over. My old 66 had an alarm added somewhere along the line, a big capacitor type thing was bolted just under the main harness. It got hot and melted the insulation on several wires just behind the cluster. While you have it apart, check everything, you will be happier later - -.

Re: Cluster Out - What next?

Great advice guys....It'll be another month or two before I attempt to put it back in. Right now I skard because she looks sooooo purtty.

In all seriousness, I plan to check, and fix other stuff whilst I have it all apart. I'm struggling with the wiring harness, as much as I hear what y'all are saying. The wires are actually in good shape. I have checked them and they are pliable and they just don't look like they are even close to needing a replacement, but I will do a more thorough check out before the cluster goes back in.

One thing I want to do is wire the clock so that it's fused and wired to run even if I have the battery disconnected with a quick disconnect 'Greenie' knob.

The other thing i remember reading was something along the lines of fusing the ignition. Any help / suggestions on this would be much appreciated.

          David
