C-3 Deck Lid / Convertible Top Handle

Was the underside of the rear deck lid painted body color with most of the parts installed? Somethings look there were put on before and then some after. Some of these parts just have a little over spray, some coated heavily and others natural. I'm thinking the body was shot in color with the deck lid in the upright / open position. Can anyone verify for sure? THANKS

The parts that were mounted and painted were the handles the spiral metal cable and clamps (Corbin I think is the correct name) and the latches that lock the lid to the body. All the top latch hardware and the bracket and bumper should be as supplied by the vendor and put on after painting.
I was working on this today getting a body ready for paint so I just looked at an original car so it is fresh in my mind.

      Marty,
Yes, the control handles, rods and hardware that would keep the lid in the down position would need to be on the car during paint. So your pictures correctly have paint as your car was going down the paint line.
From what I remember during a plant tour, the inside of the doors, and the deck lid were painted with the each in the open position. Then closed / lowered while the body shell was then sprayed.

I saw your other post on trying to loosen the bolt that holds the deck spring assembly. Have you gotten it loose yet with penetrating oil?
Did you consider using a little heat to expand the bolt and then using a socket to turn it out?
If you stiil need a hand, call. I see that the weather may be clear Sunday. I could bring the '73 for you to look at.
