    NCRS - Friends helping friends

I had two experiences in the last four months that really reinforced how great NCRS is. The motto of Friends helping friends could not be more true.

I had worked so hard to get my car ready for Duntov judging and I missed the entire convention. However, lucky for me I have such great friends as Scott Smith, Roy Sinor, and many more that jumped in and represented my interest. I know there were more that helped, but since I was not there I have no idea who else I should thank. My car earned the Duntov and was back home in my garage in Florida before I even got out of the hospital. I want say thank you to all of my NCRS friends for making this happen.

Lucky for me I have been an active NCRS member and have made many great friends in NCRS throughout the country. We had stumbled into Lafayette, LA so I then called my good friend Mark Kinler. Within 30 minutes Mark and his friend Wade were there. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 45 minutes. They would take no pay for their help.

I will not forget the karma my NCRS friends sent me this year and hope that I will be in a position to send some back soon. The cars are great, but they pale in comparison to the great firendships that are made. What a club!

    Thanks again,

    Dave Brewer

      Hello Dave;

Thank you for relating your experience.

We also have had a considerable amount of help from NCRS members.

The many unselfish people in this organization make it great.

      Just my 2 cents.

      Ray
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
      I hope you dance

            Dave:

You know you have many friends in South Louisiana as many NCRS members enjoy our "Cajun Culture" whether in distress or interaction day to day. You were very much missed during Nationals and many were monitoring your progress... You were mentioned at the Banquet and it was reported your medical condition was stable and improving.

I have personally witnessed Mark helping and providing a restorers advice during Meets and fielding endless questions on a specific models correctness.

All the best in your recovery and hope to see you back at another Meet soon.

            Regards,
            Brady Como

              Dave,
Thanks for the great post, I was at Convention and heard of your trouble but not the outcome. That is what NCRS is about, the cars and friends, not the $.

Hi Dave, it was great seeing you in Bend and looking "normal" again.
I feel there is another person who deserves recognition, whom I was told you had not even met before your incident and still may not have met personally.
I'm not sure of the exact circumstances, but, when Scott made aware your predicament, Bill Lacy, after he had survived the judging ordeal in attaining a Top Flight with his own car on the day of your incident, graciously stepped-up the next day to fill-in as the "Owner" of your car to help you attain your Top Flight.
As the tour guide in that little racing shop we visited during the Charlotte Regional said, "Corvette people are the best people in the world".
                  Be well!
                  Best Regards

Great story, and I hope you are doing fine now!!!

This might be a nice story to publish in the Restorer as well, you might consider sending this to Vinnie Peters for publishing...

                    take care,

Dave, Kay and I are glad to see you are home safely. We felt helpless with your coach just sitting in Sundermeiers and you off in the hospital. See you in Florida. Say hello to Darrell.

The first occurred at the St. Charles national convention. All was fine.

Glad to hear you are doing OK. We were all concerned about you. Some of us have known for a while the meaning of "Come for the cars, stay for the people." Future good health to you.
