    C2 hub/rotor fit

    Hello all,

I'm redoing the brakes on my '66. When i checked the front runout it was .010" on both wheels. the front rotors are replacements and are in good shape visually. I checked the runout of the hubs and they both show .001"-.002" as mounted on the steering knuckle. As i tried to index the rotors to the hubs and measure each 72 degree reinstalled position i found myself having to take the hub/rotor off to press out the hub. I then miked the hub O.D. 2.809" and the I.D. of the rotor hole 2.799" I don't remember there being an interference fit the last time i did brake rotors front or rear. Am i correct?

    Thanks,
    Andre

The front or rear rotors were NOT an interference fit on the hubs (front) or spindles (rear). They were a fairly close tolerance fit but NOT an interference fit.

By the way, if you have .002" TIR on the hub, that can "translate" to about 0.008" on the rotor at the point of measurement even if the rotor, itself, has "perfect" TIR.
