    Tank Sticker

On a 1967 Corvette, how can you tie the tank sticker into the actual vin# of the car since only an order# exists on the sticker?

No meaning that it can't be tied in to the vin# ?

What is the value of having the tank Sticker since it can't be proven that it actually belongs to a specific car? Is there anyway to convert the order# into the Vin#?

            Jeffrey,

There's not as much value for '67 thru early '71 model Corvettes with that factory document. The later '71 and '72's are very fortunate to be able to identify that document to a particular car, if your lucky enough to have an original Corvette Order Copy.

I was told somewhere along the line that the number in the upper left corner in someway related to the car. There is a fellow in PA that was said to be the expert on this but I cannot remember his name. This was also said to be the reason most of the tank stickers appear with the upper left corner torn off or cut off. Does anyone know what the number is??

                Chris -

The number in the upper left box is the "Ident Number", which was assigned by the plant when they accepted the order for production, well before the car was built; although that number followed the unit all the way through the system and appeared on all the paperwork including the Car Shipper and window sticker, it's unrelated to the VIN.

Chris: these are pictures of the Broadcast sheet that came off my car. I know that this sheet is original to my car. It is my understanding that the last two digits of hand written number is us usually with in a couple of the last two digits of the vin. My vin is 121683. The hand written number is 185 with in two.
