    Disassemble 2X4 Air Cleaners

I want to remove the flame arresting material and screens from my '57 2X4 air cleaners so I can remove two small dents. Before I do, has anyone ever disassembled them, how should I proceed, and what should I look out for so as not to damage them? It seems straight forward but---

    Thanks!

With care you can open them (about 60%) then you can remove the bottom plate , then you need to brake the screen spot welds and then re-spot weld them . Using a sharp strong blade to start and a needle nose worked good for me.
