    C1 1957 Decklid Adjustment

On my 57 the decklid is to high on the sides as it curves around. The mounting arms have no shims under them so how do I get it lower? At first I thought perhaps the conv. top was causing this but getting this top up and out of the way makes no difference.

I would post a picture but today when the car was being unloaded off the haulere my wife's SONY digital camera quit working but that is another story. Duke, know anything about SONY CYBERSHOT DSC S-500 cameras?

    Regards,

    Jim Blakely

Jimmy, Try shimming just the front bolts. If it's not too bad that might help. Is that a big brake car? Regards, Paul

I have about 3/8 to 1/2 inch so I don't think front shims are gona work. Not a big brake car, been sitting many years Paul in Colorado barn!

Can it be shimmed where the arms attach to the back deck?

JIMMY, I've had some luck heating the arm and bending it, not for the faint of heart, but it's that or lots of fiberglass work, be sure and shield the fiberglass with a sturdy piece of metal if you try it, good luck, cary

Thanks Cary, that sounds like it might work but I think I better let my friend assist me in doing this. Last time I put fire around a Corvette I had the backside of the rocker panel in a "fondue" situation while I was trying to heat up undercoating off the bottom side and clean it off with lacquer thinner and scotch brite. Scared the holy @#$% out of me. Good thing the Mrs. was gone shopping at the time.

While each case is different, I discreetly added a little shim stock between frame and body on each rear corner to slightly lift the rear body corners to meet the trunk lid. Took very little shim to solve the problem and does not appear to have over stressed anything.
