Here is one from my April fools '66. No 6's but a nine is there for you.

      David,
      Thanks, yes that's a help. I'm figuring an upside down 6 was used a a 9.
Thank you again for your help, Jeff

          Dick,
Thanks for replying, it's good to hear from you! You've pictured another example of what I call a "straight back-6", or in your example a "straight back-9". What I'm wondering is does anyone have an example of what I'm calling a "curly" 6? By a "curly-6" I mean a 6 that's very similar to the 6 font used in the VIN portion of the stamp, teh back is rounded and it curls over the top. I'm told this 6 exists on 66' Flint blocks, but I've never seen one on a Corvette and I'm thinking Flint didn't differentiate certain stamp fonts for different car lines. Any help clarifying this with actual examples would be a blessing. Thank you again for helping me with this mystery, Jeff

Jeffery, the 9 that I posted is a different character from the other two. It is straighter i.e. 90 deg vs a slight slant on the others. I am not saying that the one that I posted is correct or incorrect, it is just one that I have in my photo collection.

Not only didn't they differentiate fonts by car line, they didn't pay any attention at all to fonts, period. The setup man grabbed dies from the bin to make up the gang holders for the day's schedule before the start of day shift, and all he cared about was getting the date and suffix correct.
