1953 corvette vin ?

I am in the process of trying to track down my grandfathers 1953 Corvette that he purchsed new in Sept.-Oct 1953 from Clem Ruh Chevrolet in Canoga Park Ca. It was the second 53 delivered to California (first went to Dinah Shore) I do not know the vin, but believe it should be a fairly early number (under 50). I have some pictures of the car from 53-56 with the red hard top that he made for the car in 54 or 55. I also have some different pictures of the car with 2 different license plate number. JXN 740 Ca gold plate (from a pic in 56) and 2T14596 (I believe this is a CA commercial plate as he had his own business and I do not know why it would be those numbers) Any help in trying to find out info on the vin number and/or who owns the car now would be greatly appreciated. I am also wiling to offer current owners copies of the pictures. Thanks.

John - I'd suggest posting your question over on the Corvette Forum. "53 Blue Flame Brett" will probably see it and possibly offer something. (I think) He has tracked 53 sales and VINs for a number of years. Tim

John, I would try an ad in the Driveline under Information Wanted...that describes enough history and car information that some 53 car owner out there may be able to tell that he has this car. Good luck with this...Tony

Is your Septt/Oct purchase date based on anything concrete, like invoices, repair bills, etc? Who was your grandfather and what did he do?
