never show the plate number because someone can trace it it and beat you to the car if it is a good deal. seen it happen before.

      Brandon,

Nice looking 65! Disk brakes were standard for 65 but Drum brakes were available with a substitution credit. Car looks nice, but the most important pics are missing. I would see if you can get hi res pics of the VIN and trim tags, and the engine pad. Also need pics of the frame and chassis. Otherwise it looks pretty correct, but a lot of reproduction parts. I would be skeptical that the engine has never been out of the car; looks like that engine compartment has been thoroughly gone through including fresh paint for the block. It would be a little unusual to go through everthing like that without pulling the engine. Knock offs are reproduction. Looks like BC/CC paint instead of lacquer. I believe the drum brake master cylinders for 65 also used the 64 style master cylinder, but I'm not sure. The one pictured has the 65/66 style master cylinder. The alternator case and valve covers appear to be have been bead blasted. Looks like the lock knob is missing on the passenger side. Looks like there is a hole drilled between the door hinges - it's too small for power windows so it is not factory. I could be mistaken but the rivets for the dash pad look too large and may have been replaced. Not enough pics to determine if it is an original side pipe car. More detailed pics would be helpful.

      Good luck!

What VIN range, repop wheels, is it a true sidepipe car? Pretty, but can't really see any details of interest in the pictures. Nothing of true importance shown...someone has "restored" it looking at the pictures, so???

Original dash rivets should be black.

is it me or is that shifter sticking WAY up looks long to me

Donald, "but a lot of reproduction parts" like what? what parts are reproduction?

also that hole in the door hinge thats def. not supposed to be like that?

A large oval hole would be between the hinges if it was a power window car, otherwise there should definitely not be a hole there. It might just be the pic, but I see what you mean about the shifter. It doesn't look original. As far as the repro parts - hoses and fittings have been replaced and other hardware has been replaced. Hood hinges lack blackout so they have been replaced - probably reproduction. Hood support has fresh plating - most folks don't bother to replate this part so it probably is reproduction. Hood latches appear to have been painted silver - spring should be black. Radiator looks too nice to be an original so it is probably a repro - not a bad thing as I would not want to drive around with an original rad. The carpet and interior look way too nice to be 43 years old - no fading or wear and tear, so probably reproduction. Radio is missing as was noted, but radio side panels are missing as well. The car has been thoroughly gone over so a lot of the cosmetic parts have been replaced - nothing at all wrong with that just as long as you know what you are getting and are not buying it as an all original survivor.

I'm not trying to nit pick - it looks like a really nice car. If it is mechanically sound, looks like a great driver. I would definitely want to closely examine the VIN and trim tags as well as engine pad if it is being presented as an original number matching car. Also the condition of the frame, chassis, and birdcage.

Re: Found a 65 I'm going to make a trip to look at what do you guys think?

OK, There is no picture of anything to establish if it is a "no hit" body or not. That may take a good look from an experienced eye to determine. The wheels are reproductions from the pictures, I may be wrong, but I'm about 95% certain. Why was the dash out? No reason to pull the dash on a car with 50K miles unless it's to replace the pads. There are three empty holes in the drivers side inner fender panel. Why are they there. I have a known original glass '65 in the 6XXX vin range and these holes are not present on my car nor other 65 cars I have seen. The springs on the hood catches are not black as they should be, the engine has been "detailed" and there is no picture of the pad, so there are a lot of questions that need to be answered by an in-person look at the car if it is a reasonable distance (say 150 miles or so) from you. If not close, may pay to have a local expert give it a look before you leap. Nothing bad, but nothing in the pictures except a lot of evidence that the car is not untouched by "helping Hands" regardless of mileage.

William, I agree the seller however knows nothing about cars really
he told me the rear end is original and think it has 3.43 gears.....so that tells you what he knows.

you mention the dash being removed how do you know that it was?

he did say the wheels are repo's

giving what info and this is the only pics I have of the car and this little info do you think the car is worth 57k? thats what he is asking

You sir probably have a deal! I just have to gather a little more info from the seller before I make the trip but I'm pretty sure I'm going to make a trip to look at it. Are you pretty familiar with 65's? I know a little but I just joined this forum/ncrs deal.

I mainly know 68-69's in depth but have learned a little on mid years lately

Is that car in Florida? West coast? If so, I think I looked at it for someone about a year ago.
