C2 Body to Frame Multiple Shim Count Question

I'm finally putting the body back on the frame on the '65 396 convertible I'm restoring. Since it is a convertible and has the extra body mount below the doors on both side of the car at that body mount location I pulled six (6) shims out when I removed the body.

I am now putting the body back on the frame today and want to know if I use one (1) green crayon mark to indicate five shims plus (1) one white crayon mark to indicate the sixth shim???

I am hoping that Michael Hanson or John Hinckley can answer my question...soon!

    Thanks,

Re: C2 Body to Frame Multiple Shim Count Question

    Hi James,
Although I'm not qualified to answer your question, it made me remember some pictures in the book CORVETTE RESTORATION -STATE OF THE ART. This book is a record of David Burroughs' restoration of a 1965/396.
There are some photos of him putting the shim marks back on and he's using ORANGE and white. The text states, ORANGE represents 5 shims and White represents 1 shim.
I don't know why the ORANGE/GREEN difference, but I thought you might find it interesting.
    Regards,

Re: C2 Body to Frame Multiple Shim Count Question

      Alan,

Thanks for your reply, I've seen other threads that discuss the orange or green marks representing 5 shims. I'm going to look into it a little further before putting the marks on the frame.

      Thanks,
