    Is the Oil Pan right

I'm rebiulding a 61 F.I. engine and I think my Oil Pan might be wrong. How do I tell? Seems I remember an old Thread saying you could get a correct one from GM still that would be correct for judging.

Both are 3 step pans. The one on the right has the 'scrapers' and trap door in the front baffle. If you look closely and use your imagination you can see the hinge for the trap door.

      Hi Joe,

Definately not the one I have. Drain plug is not even in the right place. Guess I need to get the right one. Thanks for the photo. Extra work for you and I really appreciate it.

The last 57-62 SERVICE oil pan available from GM was GM #359937. It was externally configured very much like the 57-62 pans. However, it was discontinued a few years ago and, thus, is no longer available from GM.

          Jack,

Probably easier and cheaper to make a pan with scrapers and trap door than find one.

            Hi guys,
I did some research through my local Chevy pars department. Joe is of course right about the discontinued Oil Pan. He turned me on to a company it North Carolina that makes a repo from the original GM specs complete with all the right details. Externally anyway. Not a bad price either.

I would appreciate it if you would post the name of the company that is reproducing the pan.

              Thanks

              John

                Hi John,

I will try to post that by Wed.
