emission sticker for a 1970 454/390 M40

What emission sticker would have been installed on a 1970 454/390 M40 non K66 Corvette? Engine Suffix is CGW.

Resto shop called and asked me the question, stating that what he could read was an AW but couldn't read the part number. My references show a GM 3980209 that carries a DP broadcast code.

The 70-72 Judging Guide calls out FOUR known original emissions labels for 1970 LS5 equipped cars. It appears the label changed over time + configuration (remember in 1970, there was a distinct engine built just to comply with California emissions, NA9 option).

so we are looking for S409240 to be consistent with an AW equipped powerteam. I take it S400924 would be to early.

If the information we have in the TIM&JG is complete and accurate, I think you are right Tom. I was hoping to get the s/n so that we could update the TIM&JG. I understood you to say there was remnants of an AW coded tag left and all you wanted was the part number to go with that tag. Did I miss something?

I owned 1970 VIN #11756. It was an LS-5 with M40 and it was a non California car without K66. It was an A/C car if that makes any difference. It had the original emissions sticker on it and it was AW code.

Actually, just confirming that AW is a code for 1970 LS5 and when was it called out. Had the part number...just confirming application and use.

I get about a call a month on early C3s usually build sheet related but the calls or contacts touch on other early C3 issues as well.
