    C3 - 1971 License Plate Hardware Questions

I purchased a license plate bracket from Dr Rebuild recently. I have the mounting hardware for the bracket as well as the license plate attaching hardware. Here are my questions:

    1. The 7/16 bolt screws used to attach my bracket are too short. There is a regular washer and a lock washer used too. The 7/16 screw has "TR" on the head. Is this screw judged during the Top Flight process? I can easily get a replacement at a hardware store, but want to make sure.

    2. I have 4 white and 2 pale yellow push nuts that go into the bracket. The TJM states "two white plastic push nuts". I've seen archive discussions that mention "yellow plastic push nuts". Which should I use?

    3. I also have two sets of license plate screws. One set is a regular oval head screw. The other set are the same but they also have a flange (looks like a screw with an attached washer). Does anyone have a photo of the correct screw they can share? At least describe what the screw looks like?

    Thank you in advance!

Re: C3 - 1971 License Plate Hardware Questions

    Hi Greg,
I have the original hardware on my 71, #6589, front license bracket.
The 2 bolts are more like 3/16 or 1/4 than the 7/16 you mention. Or are you talking about length? Mine are 5/8 long. The head marks are RSC with 3 slash marks separating the letters.
The push nuts are definitely 'yellowed' in the same way the ports on my washer pump has yellowed. They're not the 'bright white' the new pieces seem to be. The push-nuts are just in the top two holes of bracket.
My original license plate mounting screws don't have the 'washer' flange. There was a thread about the screws and their finish with pictures earlier this summer.
    Regards,
    Alan
